So I just checked the DW stats page, and wow:

* Female 3422 (87.1%)
* Male 414 (10.5%)
* Other 94 (2.4%)
* Unspecified 2546

THERE ARE ONLY FOUR HUNDRED AND FOURTEEN OF US WHO WILL ADMIT IT.

I know that most of the folks on Dreamwidth are coming from LJ, and that LJ's a hugely female space, but *man alive* that's a gap!

(Admitted men! Each of us must now be more than eight times as manly as usual! For my part, I will talk about guns a lot and scratch myself.)

(Of course, women do that, too.)

*claps and cheers*

There are SO many on LJ I have long thought were male and just pretending...

Hee! [staff profile] mark has been known to look around irc and bemoan that he is the only possessor of a penis nearby. *g*

... and now I have that song from "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" stuck in my head ...

A dear departed friend of the family, a former cop, big burly fellow (his rib cage could have fit around my shoulders with room to spare) used to sing this on occasion once he had a few beers in him. Him, and a friend of his who was almost as big, and his brother. It was absolutely hilarious. Man, I miss him ...

So, I can see this entry and the other on my LJ, but when I come here with my OpenID to comment on the other one, I cannot view it, and thus cannot leave a comment. So, basically, you need to acknowledge you know me here, dog. =)

When I get an account, I will admit I'm a dude. Currently, it knows that my OpenID is a dude, but I don't have an account to let it know about. So I can't.

We're men--MANLY men!

"Fagolas?"
"No, we're straight. Just merry!"

I'll be buying a paid account as soon as they go live at the end of the month. Probably only for one month, then I'll let it devolve to a free account. But I'll be here.

What interests me is how many are "unspecified" (disclosure: I'm one). Is it just an internet thing, or are there people who find that it's interesting to explore being something that is human but not tied down to one particular gender?

(Or maybe just a lot of lazy folk who haven't bothered to shift away from DWth's gender-neutral default, IDK.)

YOU NEED A BOOK

A POEM EVERY DAY

The collected poems from my descent into madness year spent writing daily poems are now available from Lulu as the cheapest 330-page book they would let me make ($16.20). If that's too pricey, you can also get it from Lulu as a free download, or just click on the "a poem every day" tag to read them here. But if you did buy one, that'd be awesome.
