The latest meme, from [livejournal.com profile] miss_porcupine this time:

Name any story I've written, and any character in it, canon or OC. I'll tell you three things about that character that I didn't put in the story. One request per person.

Jim Gordon, Minute of Angle

  1. Jim doesn't drink much (any more). His father was a drinker, and so was his brother. Jim was known to tie a few on when he was in the army, but gave it up after he came back to himself when he was waiting for a flight out of Thailand. He didn't remember entering the country, and he was stationed in Japan at the time.

  2. Jim's military service was as an MP. He spent a lot of time busting the heads of drunken soldiers, and so despite his wartime service saw very little of anything that could be described as action. Unless you count one or two particularly epic bar fights.

  3. Jim used to window-shop for Christmas presents for Barbara, when she was very young. Given the cold relations between himself and Roger, he'd decided that it would be best for Thelma and Barbara if he didn't buy or send them.

Barbara Gordon, also "Minute of Angle"

From: [identity profile] hradzka.livejournal.com
  1. The letter she was reading was the one referenced in one of Devin Grayson's issues, the one that led Babs to believe that her mother had left Jim Gordon for his brother after becoming pregnant by Jim. Babs was wrong because she didn't believe that Jim would sleep with his own brother's wife. She still thinks that her mother left Jim for Roger, but doesn't bring it up in deference to Jim's feelings.

  2. Babs's performance was well-received, but Cyrano was her last role in a play. She'd already been a bit of a jock, but after Cyrano she dropped the theatrical engagements entirely for sports. She maintains that this had nothing to do with her glimpse of Batman and Robin. She might even believe that.

  3. Her memory being what it is, Barbara still remembers Cyrano -- her part, and everyone else's. She thought he was a terribly romantic figure. Now she sees him as a tragic one, a man seeking consolation in ideals for what he couldn't have in life.

YOU NEED A BOOK

A POEM EVERY DAY

The collected poems from my descent into madness year spent writing daily poems are now available from Lulu as the cheapest 330-page book they would let me make ($16.20). If that's too pricey, you can also get it from Lulu as a free download, or just click on the "a poem every day" tag to read them here. But if you did buy one, that'd be awesome.
