Huh. I'm not sure why, but a surprising number of new people have shown up recently. Hello, new people! Do not be alarmed if I am slow or fail to reciprocate, particularly on LJ, but please feel welcome. Pull up a chair. Have a mimosa.

I'm kind of curious where all of you have come from, so if you like take a moment in comments to let me know what brought you here, and what you're interested in seeing more of. Poetry? Guns? Discussion of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's finances? I'm just curious what people are suddenly signing on for.

I can't speak for everyone else, but [personal profile] rydra_wong listed you in her recent follow friday post, and that's what brought me here.

And um, yes to all three? Especially that last one.

my good buddy rydra_wong recommended you as someone interesting to subscribe to on the new DW tradition known as Follow Friday.

So I signed up!

As it happens, I enjoy all things Conan Doyle very much, but whatever you post is fine with me.

*cheers*

Yes, Rydra's link brought me, too. I knew /of/ you a bit, but hadn't thought of friending you because I think I knew of you on Lj, and I don't tend to add new people over there anymore since I'm on the way out. When I saw that you're on Dth too I thought subscribing would be neat! And so I did. Hello! Conan Doyle's finances sound intriguing...

I've been hanging about here for a while, but can I have a mimosa anyway?

You got pinged...

in the follow friday comm.

I wandered over.

And then I read the OH JOHN RINGO NO post.

Sold! (also somewhat disturbed, but I couldn't look away. Does it help I read the whole thing with my jaw dropping ever lower before I finally got the giggles?)

Thanks for friending me back - I don't think I'll provide nearly as much amusement in return. I like poems. I am undecided on guns, despite being a loyal fan of Shit Blows Up movies.

And I heard that Sherlock Holmes and Watson were based on one person but were split out into two separate personalities in fiction to make it less easy to identify the original doctor (who I imagine did not want his patients knowing about the whole violin-playing thing)...any truth or just some interwebs scuttlebutt?

In summary: Hi! *waves*

Ah - okay. (Which now makes me now wonder if House is a sort of latter-day tribute to Dr Bell....)

Thinking back on the stories (which i really must get down and read again if only just to see if the bromance could possibly be writ as large as it is in the film), I'd say ACD either had bipolar disorder or was very close to someone who did.

I did specifically subscribe after [personal profile] niqaeli showed me ACD's finances, but I seem to recall you as an interesting person I used to read on LJ?

I'd been stopping by occasionally on LJ, but when I saw you were on DW, I subscribed. As I am able to read DW at work, but not LJ, so I'm slowly shifting most of my reading list over here.

Also, I've been meaning to ask this for a while: are you the guy who ran SF-Lovers-Digest out of a Rutgers email address for yonks? Because I was subscribed to that for years.

Well, I came here today because [personal profile] cofax7 rec'ed the Blood and Sand picspam and then I realized you did the John Ringo posts and I stayed after reading a bit more meta (especially the Captain America one, which I really want to read again). Oh, and guns because I used to shoot years ago in ROTC and periodically think about taking lessons again.

YOU NEED A BOOK

A POEM EVERY DAY

The collected poems from my descent into madness year spent writing daily poems are now available from Lulu as the cheapest 330-page book they would let me make ($16.20). If that's too pricey, you can also get it from Lulu as a free download, or just click on the "a poem every day" tag to read them here. But if you did buy one, that'd be awesome.
