Ganked from everybody:

I was thinking you should tell me about stories you think I should write. I mean, if you could sit me down for a day or whatever and say, "I want you to write this story for me," what would that story be?

I'm not actually promising to *write* any of these, mind you, but it's fun anyway. And who knows if I'll be inspired!

I have multiple original stories and a fic on the burner. So, I almost certainly won't write anything suggested, but it'd be fun to see what folks want!

First you read Homestuck,
This is a very funny joke you have here ;)

Hey, he said he wouldn't actually write it whatever I said; besides, it's good original sci-fi, and I think he might like the time-loop plots and aliens.

Hey, that comic thing has eaten my brain pretty thoroughly! But.

Step One: Read Homestuck
It is still a hell of a footnote.

(Although I would note, Homestuck is also a very good answer to the question, "What is fandom doing lately?" It's a very different scene than fic-centered journal-based fandom.)

There's still a lot of ship-fic, though -- I'm not sure I'd rec the fandom to Hradzka, though I do rec the central work.

Though, now that you've made me think for a minute: I know that Hussie collaborates with fans for his album art, his music releases, and and I think some of the flash video, right? So that would be a very new and unusual fan thing -- the fan-creator being publicly recruited by the original's author, making ongoing contributions without ever becoming an acknowledged author.

Haha I always feel bad reccing the central work itself. If someone happens to trip and fall into the archives I will pat them consolingly on the shoulder and offer fic recs but... Yeah.

And I don't know if the fandom is "good" by any useful metre, but it is huge, sprawling, young skewing, and has different cultural norms, values and output patterns... (though still a lot of shipfic, even if the dude to ladyslash ratio isn't quite so relatively large as most) If you're trying to predict the future of fandom, it's probably a hint.

Hmm. Well, if there are any other works that take a week of reading to get current on, that have Homestuck's order of fascinating/weird/meticulously crafted plot stuff, lay them on me, I don't need sleep that badly.

See, and that sounds *equally* like gifting someone a finger trap. Although at least you are asking for such a thing ;)

(And sorry, none spring to mind offhand.)

YOU NEED A BOOK

A POEM EVERY DAY

The collected poems from my descent into madness year spent writing daily poems are now available from Lulu as the cheapest 330-page book they would let me make ($16.20). If that's too pricey, you can also get it from Lulu as a free download, or just click on the "a poem every day" tag to read them here. But if you did buy one, that'd be awesome.
